HOUSING STÖBERGASSE

We designed a subsidized residential building for SOZIALBAU AG in Vienna's 5th district.
44 apartments on 7 floors, common rooms located on the first floor with open spaces in the courtyard, and an adult education center on the ground floor form an exciting inner-city ensemble.

Due to the urban planning situation and the positioning in the middle of a perimeter block development, the building is structured into a street façade and a courtyard façade.

The street façade picks up on the clear and sculptural structure of the adjacent "Gründerzeit" buildings, including the play of light and shade, and thus blends into the urban streetscape. Generous windows with shading elements in front ensure a high-quality, light-flooded ambience for the living spaces behind.

The regular structuring of the façade surface includes window areas as well as open loggias distributed across the different levels and terraces in the stepped upper floors.   

This turns the building into a regularly spaced structure of different spatial possibilities.
